Sweden attack : Truck plows into crowd on Stockholm street, four dead
A truck rammed into people on a central Stockholm street before crashing into a department store on Friday, killing no fewer than four people and injuring about 15 others.
Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven said at a nationally televised press conference that everything indicates that this is a terror attack.
The stolen beer truck accelerated as it plowed into the crowd on a main pedestrian street in central Stockholm.
One man was arrested by police as a possible suspect.
Police were seen standing guard and patrolling the area which was cordoned off Friday night.
“We are providing food to the people and to the police that work here at night. We gave them food so that they can stay warm and healthy. And this is a really tragic thing that happened in Stockholm today. We hope we will not see any more of this,” said a Stockholm resident.
Police closed large shopping malls and movie theaters and warned the residents against outdoor activities for the sake of security. The city’s subway service was halted Friday afternoon.
