Consuming Soft Drinks During Pregnancy Could Result In Your Child Being Diabetic 

A new study published in The Journal of Physiology has warned pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers to avoid diets high in fructose-containing sugars as it increases the risk of their kids being obese or diabetic.

Researchers from the University of South Australia gave female rats water supplemented with fructose-containing sugars at an amount equivalent to those in standard soft drinks, before, during and after pregnancy.

After birth, offsprings were weaned by a mother who had access to the same fructose-containing beverage, or by one who had access to water only.

Body weight, fat mass and glucose control in the offspring were measured and tissues were analysed to see the amount and type of fat in their livers.

Offspring from mothers who had a diet high in fructose-containing sugars were found to have a detrimental fat composition in their livers.

This can negatively impact the metabolic health of the offspring, contributing to the development of obesity or type 2 diabetes in the future.

“This study highlights the importance of maternal nutrition during the lactation period. Guidelines for consuming added sugars or sugar-sweetened beverages during pregnancy should consider this,” said Sheridan Gentili, senior lecturer in biological sciences at the University of South Australia, and lead investigator of the study.

“As there are differences in physiology between humans and rodents, we need to be careful when translating this research directly to humans.”

Many kinds of cereal, sugary soft drinks and other processed foods have fructose-containing sugars, including sucrose and high fructose corn syrup (HFCS).

Excess consumption of these sugars is a major contributor to obesity and type 2 diabetes.

1. Doggy Style, on Your Elbows

Throw your partner a bone and up his penetration power. The traditional version of this position has the woman on all fours and the man on his knees, entering her from behind, but if you rest on your elbows instead of your hands, “the change in angle makes it easier for your partner to go deeper,” says Dr. Glickman. Bonus: “Your wrists won’t get tired from holding up your body.”

2. Doggy Style, with a Belt or Scarf

Another sexy update to doggy style could start with what’s hanging in your closet. “Get on your hands and knees, and have your partner place a wide belt or scarf in front of your hips,” Dr. Glickman suggests. He should hold the slack and “use it to pull you back onto him, without having to grip you so hard.” Be sure the belt rests where you’d normally wear one, so it doesn’t slide around. “Using a belt or scarf gives your partner a solid hold,” which allows for deeper penetration, Dr. Glickman adds.

3. Missionary, with Added Friction

Extra rub means extra love for this spin on man on top. The traditional form of this position has the guy lying face to face on top of the woman, who’s on her back. “Start out this way, but bring your legs between his, and have him angle his body forward so that his shaft is rubbing firmly on your cli**ris (also known as the coital alignment technique),” says Rachel Needle, PsyD, a psychologist and certified s*x therapist. Instead of straddling your man as he lies on his back with his legs flush against the bed, have him bend his knees up toward the ceiling, with the bottoms of his feet resting flat on the mattress. As you move on top of him, place one of your legs outside of his thigh, and your other leg in between his legs. “This allows you to control the depth and angle of penetration,” Dr. Needle explains, “all while rubbing your cli**ris against his pubic bone.”

The standard style of this position “has the woman on top with her back to her partner, lowering herself down onto him,” Dr. Needle says. For this variation, “your partner lies on his back with his legs bent, and the soles of his feet touching, knees falling to each side. Straddle him backwards and lower yourself onto him, leaning forward a bit, so that your cli**ris is being rubbed.” While riding your partner, Dr. Needle suggests playing with his testicles and putting pressure on his perineum, an area between his scrotum and anus filled with extra nerve endings.

Former commissioner loses 18-yr-old daughter

Magnus Ebiye-Onyibe loses his 18-year-old daughter after an unsuccessful operation.

The family of Magnus Ebiye-Onyibe, PR maven, social commentator and former Commissioner of Information in Delta state, has announced the passing of their 18-year-old daughter, Kikaose Ebiye Onyibe.

Kika, as she was fondly called, was until her passing a second-year law undergraduate at the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom. She transited to eternal glory on Wednesday, 12th April 2017 following an unsuccessful surgery to remove a ruptured appendix at Gold Cross hospital on Bourdillon road, Ikoyi, Lagos.

Graduating from Lagoon School, Lekki Lagos, where she had her secondary school education, Kikaose had a clear idea of what she wanted to do in life. Like most students in their early teens, she was ambitious and opted for her Basic Studies program at BridgeHouse College, Ikoyi Lagos. Upon completing the course, she travelled to the United Kingdom for a Law Program at the University of Birmingham, where she was before her sudden demise.

Kika was a bubbly young lady with lofty dreams and burning passion for God exemplified in the home fellowship she led for her peers. She also played an active role as a member of the GIFT fellowship, University of Birmingham UK.

Kika who could have been 19 years on the 29th of April left behind, her lovely parents Helen and Magnus Ebiye-Onyibe and two siblings, Sopuluchukwu and Ebubechukwu.

In commemoration of her transition, a service of songs will hold on Monday, 17th April 2017 at 33B Eti Osa way Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi from 4 pm while the interment will be at Ebony Vaults, George-street, off Alagbon close, Ikoyi Lagos on Tuesday 18th April 2017.

Time is 10 am prompt. May her gentle soul rest in peace.

Man impregnates daughter, dumps newborn baby in well

A man who impregnated his own daughter and dumped the baby in a well after she put to bed has been arrested in Bauchi. 

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 55-year-old man, Abdulkadir Mohammed, who allegedly impregnated his 20-year-old daughter identified as Dije Abdulkadir and when she gave birth, he dumped the newborn baby inside a well.

Punch reports that Mohammed was arrested alongside the daughter in Gamawa Local Government Area of the state for attempted murder.

Prostitutes in Kenya's city of Mombasa have staged a protest over the murder of their colleague who visited a hotel with a customer.

According to Crime Alerts, the body of the deceased was found over the weekend at by janitors cleaning the room she had slept with her guest.

Her colleagues held placards with the inscriptions, ‘Sex workers: don’t kill them’, ‘Sex workers have right to live’, 'Sex workers: Support them'.

Jacob Kanake, a director for the Mombasa Criminal Investigation Department mentioned that investigations has began into the murder.

Nigerian pastor imprisoned in the UK for sexual assault

A Nigerian man of God has been sentenced to jail in the United Kingdom after he was found guilty of sexually assaulting women.                                          

A 55-year-old Nigerian man of God based in the United Kingdom, Pastor Benjamin Egbujor, has been jailed after he was found guilty of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl and another woman during 'private prayer sessions' he organized for them.

Daily Mail reports that Benjamin, a resident of Harold Avenue in Kent, was found guilty of sexual assault and causing a child to engage in sexual activity while his 43-year-old secretary, Rose Nwenwu, was also found guilty of aiding him and participating in the sexual assault.

The Metropolitan Police said the pastor and Nwenwu committed the offenses at their Jubilee Christian Centre (JCC), in Penarth Street, London.

An official of the Metropolitan Police had told the court:

“Officers in the Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Command started an investigation in January 2014 after a teenage girl disclosed to her family she had been abused by Egbujor.

The victim, who was under the age of 16, said Egbujor told her she had been chosen to attend an individual prayer session.

After being taken into his private office, the girl was forced to undress and oil was poured over her.

As a result of further inquiries, officers also interviewed a woman in her 30s who disclosed she had also been sexually assaulted by Egbujor.

The adult victim said Nwenwu, who worked as Egbujor’s secretary, also took part in the sexual assault by taking her clothes off and pouring oil over her.”

Another gang that rob online delivery men arrested

Barely one week after a robbery gang robbed and murdered a delivery man for Jumia, an online store, another gang in that field has been smashed.

                                  

The operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a robbery gang that targets delivery men from online trading stores across the nation.

Punch reports that the gang led by 30-year-old Wilfred Ehis, was smashed on March 7, 2017, after they shot at an operative of the RRS, Sergeant Garba Kadiri while attempting to evade arrest at Pretty Street, Iyana School, LASU-Iyana Road, a suburb of the state.

Other members of the gang that included Bright Eloho, 24, Emeka Egbemedu, 22 and Olanrewaju Kamilu, 33, were trailed by the operatives and arrested at Olamulti Hotel, New Site, Iba, Ojo, Lagos.

Ehis who claimed to be a Chemical Engineering graduate of University of Benin, Ekpoma, Edo State, during interrogation, confessed to being the leader of the gang and stated that they operated by placing orders for different items on the online stores only to rob the couriers when they went to make the deliveries.

“I operate by placing orders online for expensive phones and goods. I request the sellers to make a home delivery. I would give the seller an address where I know the robbery can be carried out successfully.

When I have made the necessary arrangements, I would then call my boys to go to the delivery address and rob the delivery man.

I don’t follow them to the robbery scene. It is Nurudeen, alias ‘Onyeabo’ who oversaw the robberies. I know he has a locally made pistol. I am also aware he recruited other boys to join him in the robbery.

I always stayed behind in hotels. After the robbery, they sold off the phones and gave me my share of the deal,” the gang leader said.

An operative of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), said Ehis always sneaked into Lagos at regular intervals from his base in Benin where he coordinates the robberies before leaving town.

The source added that Ehis, before his arrest, also stood at different ATM points in Igando, Ojo, Alaba and Apapa areas of the state, to monitor ATM users who withdrew money. He then alerted his gang members who usually used motorcycles to trail and rob their victims.

Items recovered from Ehis following his arrest were assorted mobile phones such as Tecno, LG 3, iPhone, two wristwatches, a Canon camera EO87D, necklace, Sony laptop, a wrap of Indian hemp and an ash-coloured Altima salon car.

Winners Pastor called out for battering wife

A Winners Chapel pastor has been called out for battering his wife and sending her out of his house over a minor domestic quarrel.

A pastor with the Living Faith Church, also known as Winners Chapel, has been called out for battering his wife and mother of three children in a case of domestic violence.

According to a Facebook user who claims to be the woman's brother, Philip Obin, the man of God identified as Pastor Matthew Wilson, who is in charge of the church branch at  Ugonoba Branch in Benin City, Edo State, battered the wife, Beauty, inflicting serious injuries on her and sent her out of his house without their three children.

Obin added that the man of God has threatened to kill his wife and get married to another woman and no one would ever question him.
